One of the reasons I love photography and specialize in printed products is that these tangible images become touchstones that keep the past alive. And, since “imitation is the highest form of flattery,” re-creating the photos of yesteryear can be great fun! Senior Rep. Kelsey had a beloved photograph of her great-grandmother, and I happened to have access to the perfect car. I think we nailed it, and Grandma loved the birthday surprise!
Continuing with the theme of nostalgia and tradition, for Kelsey’s second location we chose the school. Given the collective passion for small-town youth sports, it’s rare to catch an empty football stadium at sunset (but we did!). The fading light was perfect for capturing a graduate’s bittersweet leaving, and the timelessness of school spirit could make this one the beloved vintage photo for generations after Kelsey. Good thing my prints will last that long!
