Barbara got in touch in early June, 2021, and I just happened to have a spot open during their planned July shindig. Coming from Orlando, Florida, Barbara and her large, far-flung family chose to celebrate summer together with a meetup in Galveston. Eldest-daughter Carrie was there, along with her husband and their three kids: a 12 year old and 9 year old twins. Barbara’s middle daughter joined in all the way from New York, and Barbara’s son and daughter-in-law travelled from Huntsville, Texas, with a four-month-old baby on board.

Getting an extended family together is a value-add, not just for building memories and the sense of belonging. It also is a great opportunity for everyone to get family portraits! In addition to the large group, the hour-long full session makes it possible to mix and match to capture all the relationships: couples, siblings, cousins, nuclear families, and inter-generational shots. This family did a wonderful job selecting wardrobe, and I love how the mix of vibrant colors and tasteful patterns vibes with the beautiful breezy day on the beach.
