After mermaid-themed baby shower gifts for mom and a newborn session with all sorts of nautical props, what better place than the beach for this one-year milestone? As energetic and mobile as ever, Catalina is the captain of her own ship, and the world is her oyster.
I like to steer these sessions so that we get a bunch of adorable images of well-dressed playtime. Then, I enjoy storyboarding the “cake encounter” from first sight to first bite, followed (of course) by the inevitable cake smash. It’s always fun to see what sort of cake my clients bring in: we typically talk about color or theme, but the finished product is always a surprise. After the great cake experience, the last segment of our hour-long session is usually (by necessity!) some sort of baby bath; sometimes that’s a bucket in the backyard, but the Gulf works great, too. All that icing slides right into the sea!
