It’s no secret that the senior portrait is my favorite kind of session. I’m over the moon, though, because THIS subject has been a special part of my family since her senior year of High School at Texas City ISD. Shelby (and by default, her sisters) have been my children’s babysitter for 5 years now. There have been countless hours-long talks at my kitchen table and I’ve watched her dedication, drive, and maturity push her towards academic and professional excellence. Really, y’all…she graduated with honors and worked her way all through college. DURING A PANDEMIC.
When she reached out to see if we could road trip it to College Station to go to the A&M Campus, there was no way I was passing that up. We hit up the classics, like the popular columns, as well as the fountain and the big ring. But the highlight of the day was when her mom arranged an awesome surprise- going into Kyle Field and taking photos at the field (it’s good to have connections, ha!). She even met Seth Small, the now-nationally recognized kicker (thanks to a game winning field goal to beat #1 ranked Alabama) while we were there. She was excited to report that he was super nice.
All-in-all, her college Senior Portraits were one for the books and definitely an experience she won’t forget!
MBP Team Member AJ has a way with poetry, and was inspired by Shelby’s tenacity enough to riff a bit on A&M’s famous fight song. I thought we’d include it here for your reading pleasure!
All hail to all my senior clients
Especially those in Maroon and White ;-)
Good luck to all my senior clients
To graduate in a pandemic surely was a fight
That good old Aggie spirit thrills us
And makes us yell and yell and yell
So let’s fight for happy years to come
We’re going to beat our blues to…
Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem
Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem
Rough Tough! Real Stuff! Texas A&M!
(Now that we’ve dork-ily ruined a classic, click here to hear the real fight song!)
